About Me

Meet Ashley

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

My name is Ashley Finch and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) offering counseling services to adults across the state of North Carolina.  I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology and my Master’s of Social Work from North Carolina State University.  I have versatility in working in a variety of mental health settings, my work has been driven by a commitment to empowering individuals and their families, promoting healing, and supporting long term mental health goals and an overall improved quality of life.

Individual Counseling

I offer counseling services to adults 18+ across the state of North Carolina, with convenient and flexible telehealth sessions to meet your schedule.  I prioritize creating a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel encouraged and empowered to tell their story and their vulnerabilities.  I strive to bring humor into our sessions when appropriate and blend both my educational background and practical experience to provide meaningful and effective therapy relationship to meet your goals.

Life Coaching & Life Transitions

My goal is to help clients build on their strengths, foster self-discovery, and achieve mental and emotional growth and stability.  I strive to support clients in improving their relationships, navigating interactions with peers, and managing both predictable and unpredictable life situations.  By creating a relatable and affirming therapeutic alliance, I aim to  help clients develop practical, attainable skills they can use in daily life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Most of our sessions involve the use of CBT, a widely used evidence based approach to psychotherapy that allows us to focus on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  It aims to help identify some maladaptive thought patterns that are unhelpful or distorted and develop healthier ways of thinking and promote a better mental health outlook overall.  Connecting the dots to our thinking and understanding the influence of one’s psychosocial history is the best way to begin mapping out a better overall quality of life.

Throughout my work as a therapist, I have learned that therapy can be a transformative experience.  It is my goal to be your navigator in understanding the connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, while identifying and overcoming obstacles in the way of personal growth.

My Approach to Therapy

I use an eclectic approach to therapy and utilize a variety of evidence based practices and interventions to uniquely assist individuals with their own unique needs and goals.  I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Grief Counseling, as well as skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.

What To Expect From Our First Session

I understand the importance of finding the right therapist for you.  Unloading a life’s worth of topics can be overwhelming, and I’m here to help you navigate that and begin a collaborative relationship to promote positive changes in your life.  You deserve JOY along with understanding yourself better and prioritizing your mental health.  We will work together to come up with a collaborative plan, first identifying your therapy goals and understanding your life experiences and history.  Sometimes, this is the first time an individual gets to tell their whole story, free of judgement and bias, and I want our first session to be at a comfortable pace.  The ultimate goal is to gain empowerment through understanding the connection of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions to begin a new path forward.
