My Career Experience

I have over 10 years experience in clinical social work, counseling and mental health.  My initial work was with the Women’s Shelter of Wake County, providing counseling and a variety of resources with the ultimate goal of finding stable housing and employment.  We also provided a safe place for women to seek daytime shelter, assessing their needs and giving them access to immediate counseling care and support.

I have extensive experience working in both outpatient practices as well as inpatient hospital settings.  My previous role at UNC Johnston Health’s inpatient behavioral health unit in Smithfield, NC allowed me to specialize in crisis intervention, providing immediate and compassionate support to adult individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.  I conducted comprehensive assessments, collaborating with the multidisciplinary hospital team to develop individualized treatment plans.  I provided counseling and supportive care to patients and their families, helping them navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges while fostering understanding and providing the resources and support to promote resilience.  I also facilitated various therapy groups, addressing topics such as coping skills, emotional regulation and building upon support groups, creating a safe place for individuals to share experiences, feel validation and empathy, as well as gaining the tools for successful recovery.

I eventually made my way into private practice, working at an office in Wilson, NC for several years.  I enjoyed group practice and the collaborative approach between patients, counselors and med providers to support a productive continuum of care that bolstered resilience.

Current Counseling Specialties

I opened my own private practice in 2021.  I specialize in supporting adults dealing with depression, anxiety, navigating major life changes/challenges, life coaching, and women’s health issues - including reproductive trauma, postpartum issues, and infertility.  I have completed many training sessions in women’s health and reproductive trauma along with experiencing my own struggles with infertility and endometriosis.  I understand what it’s like to deal with complex and inconclusive diagnoses, the grief, and isolation from the scarcity of support.
